Justine arrives at a convent following her parents death and immediately makes nice with a very disturbed *and smokin'* figure by the name of Alucarda. They become friends and, well, from there all "Hell" *har har* breaks loose as they basically become Satan's personal cheerleader's and go crazy for the rest of the film causing everyone else in the convent to go crazy with them.

Here it is ladies. If you're lookin' to reel in the Cap'n, just watch this movie and take notice. Perform any one of Justine's or Alucarda's many shannanigans and I'm all yours. You don't? Fine by me. I'll just have to hunt them down and marry either one of them, both preferably.
I remeber I renting this one under the name "Sisters of Satan". Though it was Fox who found the "Alucarda" DVD. Well to give you an idea of how all of this works, we usually find ourselves wading through a lot of crap to occasionally run into a jewel such as this one. Truth be told, this one is a keeper. Starts off slow, but rest assured, it will catch you off guard and take off on you. I still have yet as to why they always blame the devil. He wasn't even there, so how could it be his fault? The last 20 minutes of the film just brings nothing togther and makes no sense. Definitely encouraged! I'm still left in awe from some of the awesomeness this film bestowed. Susana draped in blood all over her naked temple and hissing and scratching is pure gold. Don't even get me started on Tina.
Hell is definitely the place for me!

I think "The Devil's Backbone" director Guillermo del Toro says it best on the special features of the DVD when he says that if it weren't for Moctezuma, we wouldn't have directors such as del Toro or Robert Rodriguez among our midst. This movie is a great example of what he means; between all the blood and gore and Satanic imagery and death, there is a very solid movie in here.
Is it a little silly? Yeah, exploitative too. It's more or less a fantastical story of two women being seduced by the devil and a nunnery being destroyed in their wake. Moctezuma's fine touches make a great ride, though, and some of the imagery in the movie is fantastic, which has to be partially credited to cinematographer Xavier Cruz, who has helped make about ten billion movies in Mexico.
The Captain really went through most of the great reasons to see this flick, so you would be doing a great favor to yourself to check this one out. B-movie shlock at its best!
Though you know, I still can't figure out why "The Devil" is a leprechaun...oh well.
