On Saturn's moon Titan, a scary monster is unleashed by a couple of stupid astronauts when one drops a flashlight on its casing. It escapes and eats them or something.
Later, another team goes in to do research and make some money off the discovery. They find dead Germans and a crazy looking alien thing that has trouble moving. Then they're all killed one by yadda yadda etc explosion.

Man, do I remember the box art for this movie from my childhood. Walking up and down the horror aisle as a kid I came across a lot of iconic (and not so iconic) box art imagery. On top of that, I recall being terrified (or at least mildly interested) when I saw the movie was being played in the store! I didn't get to see much, but it always stuck with me, so when I saw the DVD for Creature at my local moving picture purchasing outlet I had to grab it.
As usual, however, the memories of the box art should have sustained me. Turns out, Creature is just a dull Alien/Thing rip-off that passes through your system like cheap wine.
The most amazing thing of the whole movie to me is the fact that director William Malone managed to get Klaus freaking Kinski somehow. Klaus was notorious for choosing well paid, short shooting schedule movies, and this appears to be one - he's in the movie for about five seconds or so before he gets all sunken face. But whatever, he at least adds some character to the movie. Everyone else is dull as dishwater and I had the worst time keeping everyone straight. One woman literally disappears for no reason for half the movie. I had no idea she was gone until she came back at the end and said "Got lost LOL!"
The pull of the movie certainly isn't the monster. Not only does it look terrible (luckily only seen at the very end of the movie, right before it explodes), it's not very consistent. It chews on people's necks but also...turns them into zombies with brain sucker implant things? I just need some consistency with your motivations Mr. Monster. It's bad enough you stand there and quiver like a drunk when you're on screen.
Not a lot of gore 'n blood present, but a few instances gave it some much needed points, including a terrific head shot explosion that comes out of total nowhere, and the aforementioned hilarious "Let's just blow this piece of shit prop alien apart!" ending. Most of the other red stuff comes from the alien chewing on peoples' necks, resulting in one pretty hilarious decapitation.
I admit I do like the idea of finding a creepy "child's butterfly menagerie" of sorts on another planet, but seeing as how we only get to see the one crappy looking alien thing it seems to be wasted material. Do I smell a remake?? And what is with the Star Wars sound effects? Every time they open or close or breathe near or gently caress a door the "blaster" sound slams through your brain. We get it, they're in space and you liked the movie!
Between Kinski's goofy ass cameo and the few gore effects you might find an ok movie, but for the most part it's cookie cutter and boring, so can't exactly recommend it. Just watch Alien and The Thing back to back instead.
