Dear Mr. Zombie,
Thank you for your attempt at re-imagining Halloween. As a fellow horror buff, I understand the difficulty you went through to redo one of the most famous horror films ever made.
However, I unfortunately must inform you that, despite my appreciation for your earlier work and your sincere attempt at giving young Michael Myers real motivations for his psychosis, I must turn down high numbers for this, your latest film.
With the template you were provided, and the various and almost endless possibilities that you could have pursued, you decided to first intrigue us with a (admittedly clichéd) case study of a young boy driven to murder by his horrible family life, only to devolve the film into an empty, run of the mill slasher machine. The formerly rich, interesting characters went to the wayside in favor of attractive yet shallow caricatures. Even the rounded out Myers simply becomes a tank that kills young women mainly because he's looking for his little sister.
While entertaining for some parts, mainly in the beginning, your film is disappointing in the fact that you (or the studio) decided to give the long-time fans such as myself a dumbed down parody of the original film.
Your career isn't over from this, and you can still count me as a fan of yours, AND I'm elated you made an R rated film that made some damn money at the box office, but this was a pretty big stumble on your way to total awesomeness.
Sincerely,
Fox
P.S. On another note, thank you so much for showing us Danielle Harris' naked body. Oh so very much.
