Those Swedish sure do know how to get down. Must have been taking lessons from the Italians.
Classic exploitation/ revenge story of a young girl named Figga (Lindberg) who off the bat is brutally molested leaving her to wander throughout life speechless. Her parents at home send her to see a specialist for her condition, however, Frigga misses the bus. Just when things couldn't get any worse, she run's into a guy named Tony *go figure* who sleazily tricks/forces her into a world of drug addiction and prostitution. On top of that, only after her first client, does Tony take out her eye. Well, you can probably gather what leads to the climax as Frigga saves her money and trains in martial arts, professional race car driving, AND military combat and firearms! Man, how in the hell does this girl find the time?!
*Little side note: Supposedly this movie has been heralded by Quentin Tarantino as "the roughest revenge movie ever made" and drew inspiration from Lindberg's character for Daryl Hannah's character in "Kill Bill"

I never even knew this film existed until it came up in a search, so I read and figured what the hell? Best believe this one pulls NO punches, either.
It's your typical "revenge/thriller" flick, but this is one of the good ones. The film is self-explanatory. Plus, it shows what can happen when you miss the bus. How could you not feel bad for Frigga? That mean ol' Tony! He looks clean on the outside, but that bastard is dirty as hell. In fact, I don't know who was slimier, Tony or his clientele?( Don't worry, they don't discrminate with the clientle.) Frigga shows no emotion even though you know how she feels. In fact, there are only about 3 times I remember when she did. If'n when she did, I felt turrible. Then again, that's how it's supposed to be set, it's revenge flick remember?
Frigga manages to punch her time card all the while getting all kinds of random ass training which leads us to some of the best action this side of everything. All of this eventually leads to some awesome bullet-time, GTA, AND they're in the Matrix. There's something for everyone!
Unfortunately, perfection has yet to be found and this film is no excpetion. For one, the added hardcore stock footage. Yep you read right. Although I gather it wasn't meant to entertain, if you don't have the actual cast doing it, it takes away from the whole theme, in my opinin'. Don't get me wrong, the Cap'n likes to see bodangles a' bouncin' as much as the next person *yeah the ladies watch 'em, too, don't front* but what's the point if you just throw it in? You're not adding anything to the film. You detract from the effort. The "final showdown" is a major disappoinment. Tony's death is supposed to be the most devious, but we don't even see it! WTF?! All that buildup and no delivery?! Yellow flag!
So enough with my mindless banter and violin playing about the flick. Go see it, now!
*The Matrix reference comes from a deleted scene that should have, by all means, been left in the original cut.*

I was kind of torn on this one. The Captain detailed most of the points - it is a really intense movie, and definitely worth checking out if you enjoy revenge flicks at all.
But that hardcore footage is so absolutely dumb. There are versions of the movie out there that exclude the footage, but from what I've read this is the "real" version of the movie - even though the director didn't want the footage in. So, it's a cycle of stupid, but in the end this is the version I watched, so I have to judge it on that.
Otherwise it's so over the top it's awesome - slow motion in random places, people screaming like crazy getting blown away. The lead actress is awesome, too, playing the coldest bitch in town, and even though the end bit is slightly anti-climactic she doesn't mess around, as they say.
The unnecessary swinging balls and anal is a bit much so try and hunt down the Rated version.

Why must they ruin a perfectly good movie with unrated sex scenes?
The premise behind this movie is quite interesting. The acting is good. The overly done slow motion fighting scenes are classic. Even the final drawn out revenge scene is great. I mean the girl goes from being abused to owning everyone involved in her sex slave, heroin addiction, hell like life. But why did they have to ruin that with totally unnecessary hardcore sex scenes in the unrated version we watched? We were expecting horror/suspense, not porn.
I'd recommend this one, but find the RATED version. Thats not something you'll hear me say very often, but the unrated contains explicit scenes that would make anyone throw up their hands and shout "WHY!?!"
