Starting like any other day, the tranquil setting at Adam's farm is very deceptive. His world, along with his granddaughter Lucy (visiting from college) and helper Luke, is about to be turned upside-down!
Ok, that's way too serious. What happens is Lucy and Adam go to church. On the way, they see two friends of Lucy's fixing their car on the side of the road. Shortly after, three bank robbers (who had killed two bank tellers) roll up and attempt to steal the car, killing the two in the process.
After church, Lucy and Adam go to the General Store, where Adam learns of the horrible killings. He decides to not tell Lucy, and prepare his home; it seems that the robbers were last seen around Adam's farm! Dun dun dun!
After a nice dinner, Adam notices the three men walking up to the house. At this point, Adam has officially gone batshit.
He sends Lucy up to her room. The men come up to the house, asking to use the telephone (which they had previously cut the wires to). Adam invites them in...by that, I mean he blows one guy practically in half with his shotgun. Capturing the other two, he decides to take matters into his own hands and 'teach them a lesson,' something Lucy has a problem with. She continually attempts to get to the police, but Adam goes to extreme lengths to make her stay.
Who survives? You'll have to watch to find out, but when Ernest Borgnine is behind the barrel, no one is safe!

I have to admit, this one wasn't as dumb as I thought it would be.
The plot, althought simple as hell, keeps moving along, especially since the movie isn't all that long. Yeah, there is one or two kind of slow parts, but nothing too serious.
One of the better things is the rhythmic ticking of the clock throughout most of the movie. Quite a bit takes place inside the house, where a clock loudly ticks away the seconds, as the tension increases. Especially after Adam loses his mind, and Lucy is running around trying to figure out what to do. I was appreciative of the straight-forward direction of the movie.
There isn't much gore, but the couple of instances where it pops up is rather well done. Especially because of how violent it is when the first bank robber catches it; it really sets the scene off, and you have no idea what this psycho is going to do to the bank robbers, who you inadvertently start to empathize with.
I would also like to commend Adam on his intelligence in the face of adversity; this dude is SMART, and he makes no mistakes when it comes to dealing with the "hoodlums." He even has one guy pull his pants down around his ankles so he can't run away. PIMP.
I recommend grabbing this; it's a neat little thriller, and shows some rather well-known faces in it. I almost recommended this to be an Legitimate brand, but it's a bit goofy at times, and the ending is so "Huh?" that it just tipped the scales.
Also, why does Borgnine look like he's going to explore Africa on the cover?

Hey! "Rush" and "Fuss" don't rhyme!
Save the last toke for you? What the hell is with the music in this movie?
Did he just pat his crotch?
Apparently Leroy is not only a drunk, but he's a ventriloquist...he didn't move his mouth that entire scene!
Can somebody TURN THE ORCHESTRA DOWN!
I didn't mean shoot the piano player!
That was a quick bathroom break...
Nice underwear, Leroy.
So...a cannon shot him from off-screen?
Adam - "A little church-going might reduce the swelling of your head some!"
Lucy - "Do you work on Sundays too? Or do you just like travelling around, showing off your swell Batman utility belt?"
Adam - "This whole country's going to damnation. Nothing else, but going to damnation."
Leroy - "Why's he so hung up on me?"
Ackerman - "Because you're a prick."
Lucy - "What are you waiting for, Grandma to come back from the grave and pickle them?"
Leroy - "Ackerman, you ain't gonna leave me alone with him?"
Ackerman - "Yeahehehehehehe."
