Comedian George Carlin died of heart failure Sunday at the age of 71. He will be missed by many for his stand up routines, Saturday Night Live, and quite a resume for movies including Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Dogma and many more.

One of the greats, the masters has left us; Stan Winston died last night in his LA home.

Stan Winston Studios has been responsible for special effects for decades now, and movies like Jurassic Park, The Thing, Terminator, etc, etc, etc would not be the same without him. A sad day indeed.

Personally, for me, Stan directed one of my favorite films of all time, Pumpkinhead. It may be a cheesy film (natch) but I always loved the idea and I'm even primed to get 'head tattooed on my leg...even moreso now.

RIP Stan. 1946-2008
